Free Gig on Saturday, September 2 2006
The urban music of Dizzee Rascal seemed to suit the network of dank, shadowy railway arches where he performed last night.

The venue under London Bridge was an atmospheric backdrop for the 22-year-old rapper from Bow, who was there for a free music event staged by a mobile phone company.

For the few hundred fans who got in after emailing their mobile numbers, it was a memorable experience thanks to resident theatre company Shunt.

Leeds & Reading on Saturday, April 29 2006
ON THE RADIO ONE / NME STAGE

DIZZEE RASCAL returns to Leeds and Reading this year after destroying all competition a few years back. First appearing in his early teens as a jungle DJ, Dizzy D, then as a pirate radio phenomenon, before becoming a part of the talent-spouting Roll Deep Crew, DIZZEE RASCAL became the hottest name on London's grime underground with his groundbreaking debut album, "Boy In Da Corner". Critical shock and awe followed, both here and in America; winning the Mercury Prize; selling over 250,000 copies and scoring top a 20 hit with "Fix Up, Look Sharp". But while all that was happening, Dylan Mills was writing lyrics, making tunes and recording his next album - the angry, funny, sonically-staggering 14 tracks that made up the follow-up album, "Showtime", which dropped just a year after his first. Since then, he has set up his own record label, Dirty Stank, and has set about recording his third album, "Maths and English", which is due this Autumn on XL Recordings. DIZZEE RASCAL continues to tear up all the rule books and set the music world alight with his raw talent. His thought-provoking lyrics, distinctively piercing and poignant delivery, and original production have made him one of the hottest stars of the urban scene, and yet one impossible to pigeonhole.

Follow Dizzee's example on Sunday, July 31 2005
A PROJECT that helped launch Mercury Music Prize-winner Dizzee Rascal into the strastosphere is heading to Canary Wharf. The Bow-born MC and producer, now living near Blackwall DLR, had been expelled from two schools when he signed up to Tower Hamlets Summer University in 2000.

The out of school music sessions that honed his talent were watched over by teacher Tim Smith, who Dizzee went on to credit alongside God on his album Boy in da Corner - saying ``special thanx to Mr Smith, da best music teacher, I'll never forget da way you kept faith in me, even when things looked grim''.

Mr Smith said: ``Tower Hamlets Summer University is an incredible project for youngsters in the area. Dizzee attended with many of his friends. I don't think he'll ever stop learning and trying new ideas.

``He had a troubled schooling, but I knew this young man had unbelievable talent. He was head and shoulders above everyone else.

``I couldn't believe he had given me credit on his album. It really boosted my cred. I just gave him space and encouraged him to get stuck into the music, not to get angry and bitter about his life.

``The music stopped him being a naughty boy. His music is quite unique - the beats and the patterns. I love seeing him live and he still keeps in touch and tells me what he's doing.''

The Summer University offers a range of workshops and hands-on learning methods, from music and media to sport and business.

Canary Wharf is hosting two classes, giving students the inside track on banking and promoting independent learning, increasing opportunities in the workplace and boosting racial tolerance and community relations.

The Trading Floor workshops offer young adults in their teens and early 20s inside knowledge of the banking world.

Students will be shadowing traders at Barclays Capital in Canary Wharf from Monday, August 1.

Around the Courts will take budding legal minds around Clifford Chance, Montgomery Square, next week.

Seeks new artists on Thursday, April 28 2005
Dizzee Rascal is set to launch his own record label as an alternative to major labels who "try to dilute the music". Dirtee Stank Records was originally the label the Boy in Da Corner star used to release his own debut 12", I Luv U, before he was signed to XL Records. However, now he is reviving the label to assist other UK urban acts in a similar position.

"As ever, the majors are jumping on the wrong things and consequently stemming the possibilities for other artists," explains Cage, Dizzee's manager and Dirtee Stank co-runner. "There's a massive gap between what you would call an underground label and a major record label. We're trying to find a way to bridge that gap."

Roll Deep on Monday, April 25 2005
The East London crew set to smash with their New Album- "In At The Deep End"

They are dizzying rascals, they are wiley and tricky, the Roll Deep crew are about to break the concrete with their new album "In At The Deep End".

Dizzee Rascal's two albums have alrady blistered the UK streets and singed the US and Wiley has risen to the chllange. Now the rest of Roll Deep are to claim what is rightfully theirs.

"In At The Deep End" is out on May 16th and the 13 man crew hailing from London's east have combined all elements from, R&B, Salsa and the grimiest Hip-Hop beats crafted together by their 3 producers.

The debut single "The Avenue" lands on June 6th and is sure to rampage the charts and become a summer hit.

DJs in general, especially radio DJs have been backing the group, wearing down their vinyls at every opportunity. The UK outfit have been receiving rave reveiws in the US and even have their own featured exhibition in Soho. If that wasn't enough, they hosted and performed at the ID Magazine party and are currently touring the UK, hitting upto 3 PA's a night.

Wiley, Riko, trim, breeze, Jet Le, Scratchy, Flow Dan and vocalist Roachy, DJs Carnage and Maximum and beats by Danny Weed. These guys know the score and have extended their creative edge to each band member having their own comic character, making for a modern, east london grimey Marvel comic strip.

While making a tour stop in Houston, Texas, last week (ends15APR05), the FIX UP, LOOK SHARP rapper met up with the UGK star for a special project, reports MTV NEWS.

Bun says he liked Dizzee's "half-cockney, half-Southern" flow and that the collaboration would be a cut featured on an upcoming album from Bun's new group, MIDDLEFINGAZ.
